Men’s Golf Shines in Standout Fall Campaign

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team put together one of the strongest semesters in program history this fall, rewriting record books, collecting championships, and establishing itself as a rising force on the national stage.

"I'm really proud of our team," said Head Coach Andrew Danna. "They accomplished a lot this fall and made a tremendous amount of progress from a development standpoint. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to compete in the spring."

FGCU closed the fall with the lowest team stroke average ever recorded in program history in any semester, posting an exceptional 277.73 scoring average across 15 rounds. All five starters finished the fall with scoring averages under par, showcasing both depth and consistency throughout the lineup.

GOLFER AVERAGE SCORE
Nolan Harper 69.19 (208-209-216-197)
Sebastian Gamboa 69.99 (215-215-205-202-208)

The Eagles' production translated into results, as the team earned three top-three finishes, including Myrtle Beach, West Bay, and Quail Valley, while capturing the team title at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational.

Individually, FGCU golfers delivered nine top-10 finishes across five different tournaments. At the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, Nolan Harper tied for fifth at 8-under, while Brett Moore added a tie for eighth at 5-under. Sacha Ruiz kept the momentum rolling with a ninth-place finish (-3) at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate Invitational. FGCU then dominated at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational, where Sebastian Gamboa and Tom Scullion tied for fourth at 11-under, and Ruiz joined them in the top 10 at 10-under. The Eagles' top individual moment came at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, where Gamboa captured the individual championship, the first of his career, at 14-under, while Scullion added another top-10 showing at 9-under. The fall season closed with a standout performance from Harper at the Ka'anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER, where he fired 16-under to finish fourth. His three-round score of 197 landed him in a tie with former Eagle and current PGA Tour member Frankie Capan III for the lowest 54 hole total in program history.
