VERO BEACH, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team turned in another strong performance at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, finishing second in a highly competitive field with a team score of 837 (-27). The Eagles were led by
Sebastian Gamboa (-14), who captured the individual championship after an outstanding performance on the course.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team turned in another strong performance, highlighted by
Sebastian Gamboa's individual championship victory at 14-under-par. Gamboa opened the tournament with a blazing first round of 65 (-7), carding seven birdies to set the tone early. He closed just as strong, notching another seven birdies in a final-round 66 (-6) to secure the title. His 18 total birdies tied for second among all players in the field and capped off an impressive display of consistency and scoring touch.
Tom Scullion joined Gamboa inside the top ten, finishing tied for eighth at 9-under (207) with rounds of 70, 67, and 70. Scullion's second round featured seven birdies, and he added an eagle on hole three during the opening round to help pace the Eagles' effort. Brett Moore continued the solid play, tying for 24th at 4-under (212) and closing with four birdies in the final round. Sacha Ruiz rebounded from a tough opening round to finish even-par (216), highlighted by a strong second round of 69 (-3) that included six birdies, tying him for 47th in the field. Brody Stevenson rounded out the lineup, finishing 82nd at 12-over (228).
The Eagles holed 67 birdies as a team, the second most in the tournament.

The Eagles will take flight to Lahaina, Hawaii, to compete in the Ka'anapali Classic from Oct. 28-30. The Ka'anapali Classic is the final tournament for the Eagles' fall schedule.
