FGCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
Mission: The mission of the FGCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to: (i) enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity and communication between the student-athletes and athletics administration; (ii) protect student-athlete welfare; and (iii) foster a positive student-athlete image on campus and in the Southwest Florida community.
Purpose:
1. To promote communication between the FGCU athletics administration and its student-athletes.
2. To provide feedback and insight into athletics department issues, including student-athlete welfare.
3. To generate a student-athlete voice within the FGCU athletics department’s formulation of policies.
4. To build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletic teams.
5. To organize community service efforts for all student-athletes’ engagement in the community.
6. To promote a positive student-athlete image on campus.
7. To engage in and perform all other functions deemed necessary by FGCU SAAC to achieve the objectives stated in these Bylaws.

As the voice of student-athletes, our SAAC representatives serve as the leaders on each of our 15 NCAA Division 1 sports.
So, what does SAAC do?
- Address concerns and suggestions from our student-athletes
- Make connections with administrators
- Advocate for student-athlete well-being and needs
- Reviews and interprets NCAA legislation directly impacting student-athletes
- Create fun events for student-athletes
- Develop leadership qualities
- Bridges the gap between athletes and the general student body
- Empower athletes to use their voice
- Develop relationships between sports and encourage Green and Blue pride
- Serve the local community through various community service initiatives
