@FGCU_WSwim Hosts Miami Saturday Evening on Senior Night

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After a two-week layoff, the FGCU swimming and diving team (6-6, 2-1 CCSA) will host its last home meet of the season hosting Miami (3-3) Saturday evening on Senior Night at 6 pm.

Prior to Saturday's meet, the Eagles will honor their 10 seniors Antonia Baerens, Hannah Burdge, Kiley Eble, Doris Eichhorn, Christina Kaas Elmgreen, Margot Kessler, Lindsay Manganiello, Nicole Oppel, Gracie Redding, and Linda Shaw.

"It's a special time of the year when you can honor an incredible class like this one," said head coach Dave Rollins. "Not only are these are these ladies world-class people that we will be saying goodbye to, but they are some of the best and brightest that have ever come through this program. It's been an absolute pleasure to coach these young women. They are set up to do some amazing things not just in the pool but in life as well."

LAST TIME OUT
FGCU hosted three different programs on Jan. 5 as Buffalo, Bowling Green and CCSA foe Liberty all faced each other in 16 events. By the end of the afternoon, FGCU took down BU (172-117) and BGSU (175-120) before falling to Liberty (173-122). The loss against the Flames halted a dominant regular-season winning streak FGCU held over CCSA foes, dating back to the 2008 season when the Eagles were defeated by Georgia Southern.

The Eagles captured first in both the 200-yard medley and 400 free relays. In the 200-yard medley, the team of Eichhorn (Berlin, Germany/HTW Berlin), Petra Halmai (Dombovar, Hungary/Lanczos Kornel Secondari Grammar School), Redding (Orlando, Fla./The First Academy/FSU) and Rebecca Moynihan (Palmerston North, New Zealand/Waiopehu College) combined for a swim of 1:45.99. In the 400-yard free, Moynihan led off with her fastest time of the afternoon (51.80) as her teammates Burdge (Stuart, Fla./Martin County HS) Wiktoria Czarnecka (Lublin, Poland./Liceum nr 10 w Lublinie) and Redding rounded out the relay for a time of 3:27.98.

The individual first-place finishes came from Redding in the 50 free (23.53) and Halmai in the 200 IM (2:06.02). The Hungary native also produced two second-place finishes in the 100 (1:04.75) and 200 breast (2:18.78).

SCOUTING THE HURRICANES
Miami enters Fort Myers with an overall 3-3 record thus far. The Hurricanes were last in action in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where they faced Crimson Tide and Florida State. On the boards, Millie Haffety claimed first in the 3-meter with a score of 308.40 as she went on to place third in the 1-meter (277.80). Carmen San Nicolas had a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 200 free (1:53.48) and 100 free (52.33).

The Eagles are 8-5 all-time against the Hurricanes.
