ATHENS, Ga. -Â Florida Gulf Coast University divers
Alexandra Andueza and
Bella Pfeil will travel to Athens, Ga., to compete in the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. The competition begins Sunday, March 8 at Bauerle Pool inside Gabrielsen Natatorium and runs through Wednesday, March 11.
Along with FGCU, the teams competing at the Zone B Diving Championships include Alabama, Auburn, Davidson, Duke, East Carolina, FAU, FIU, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Miami (Fla.), NC State, North Carolina, Queens, South Carolina, Tennessee, and UNC Wilmington.
Andueza is scheduled to compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform diving events, while Pfeil will participate in the 1-meter dive. The 1-meter event begins with preliminaries on Sunday, March 8 at 12:15 p.m., followed by finals at 2:55 p.m. The 3-meter competition will start with prelims on Monday, March 9 at 11:15 a.m., with finals set for 1:40 p.m. Platform diving will take place on Tuesday, March 10, beginning with prelims at 11:15 a.m. and finals at 12:40 p.m.
During the competition, the top 18 finishers in the preliminary round will advance to the finals. In the women's events, 11 will reach NCAAs on 1-meter, nine will qualify on 3-meter and seven on platform. Additionally, if a diver automatically qualifies in one event, they can add additional events to their NCAA program with top-12 finishes.
