ORLANDO, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles swimming and diving team heads to Orlando for the ASUN Championships, set for Feb. 18-21 at the Rosen Aquatic Center. The four-day championship meet will feature preliminary sessions each morning at 10:00 a.m., followed by finals each evening at 6:00 p.m. With conference titles and podium finishes on the line, the Eagles will look to turn months of preparation into strong performances across four full days of competition.
Wednesday opens the championships with the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 3-meter dive and 200 medley relay. Swimmers to watch for FGCU include
Aislyn Barnett in the 500 free, while
Cassie Bauer,
Nori Hetyei and
Ipek Aydiner will be ones to keep an eye on in the 200 IM. The Eagles' sprint presence in the 50 free features
Libby Russum,
Leah Gentry-Tuney and
Mia Burke, and the diving spotlight falls on
Alexandra Andueza and
Bella Pfeil in the 3-meter event.
Thursday's schedule includes the 200 free relay, 1-meter dive, 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free and 400 medley relay.
Izzy Ackley, Hetyei,
Olivia Vecchio and
Nastia Tichy headline the swimmers to watch in the 100 fly, while Barnett,
Jordan Durocher and Aydiner will be key names in the 400 IM. Andueza, Pfeil and
Brianna Rodetsky are divers to watch on the 1-meter board.
Friday's session brings a mix of stroke specialists and middle-distance contributors to the forefront with the 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly and 800 free relay. Ackley and Vecchio are swimmers to watch in the 100 back, while Bauer and Gentry-Tuney anchor FGCU's presence in the 100 breast. Hetyei, Tichy and Vecchio return as names to monitor in the 200 fly.
Saturday wraps up the championships with the 1650 free, 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, platform dive and 400 free relay.
Lily Magda is a swimmer to watch in the mile, while Gentry-Tuney, Russum and
Jasmin Kroll headline the 100 free. Ackley, Durocher and Bauer are key names in the 200 back, with Barnett competing in the 200 breast. The platform diving event features a deep group to watch, including Andueza,
Rylie Darkatsh, Rodetsky,
Sydney Joiner, Kaylin Olsen and Pfeil.
With strength across distance, stroke events, sprints and diving, FGCU enters the week with scoring opportunities in nearly every session. Consistency in prelims and momentum in finals will be key as the Eagles look to make their mark at the ASUN Championships in Orlando.
