Trio of Eagles positioned top 20 at The Aggie Invitational

Three Florida Gulf Coast University men's golfers have positioned themselves in the top 20 or higher on the player leaderboard Saturday as the Eagles completed day one of The Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas.

"I'm really proud of our team," head coach Andrew Danna said. "It was a tough day on the course with harsh conditions, but the team handled it well. We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete tomorrow."

Joseph Sullivan leads the trio of Eagles, tying for 13th overall at four-over-par. Sullivan began his outing with an even-par 72 and followed up with a 76. On Friday, Sullivan completed his appearance at a PGA Tour event, the Valero Texas Open, where he finished seven over.

Brody Stevenson soared into 18th place at the end of the day, climbing up 22 spots thanks to his second-round 72. Stevenson birdied his final hole. Austin Cherichella tied for 19th after opening the tournament with a scorecard of 74.

FGCU sits ninth overall as a team, posting rounds of 303 and 304. The Eagles emerged in seventh place after round one and slid into ninth to close round two.

Baylor leads a stacked 12-team field at six-over. The field consists of one top 25 program and three teams currently top 50 in the latest collegiate rankings.

The Eagles tee off Sunday's third and final round beginning at 8:50 a.m.
