FORT MYERS, Fla. — Sebastian Gamboa has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.

The junior from Merida, Mexico had an outstanding showing at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, capturing the individual championship with a score of 202 (-14), the first individual victory of his collegiate career.

Gamboa kicked off the tournament with a stellar opening round of 65 (-7), firing seven birdies to establish momentum early. He finished just as impressively, adding another seven birdies in the closing round, shooting a 66 (-6) to claim the title. His 18 total birdies tied for second-most in the field.

"Sebastian did a great job this week managing the tournament," said Head Coach Andrew Danna. "He stayed patient and took advantage when he needed to on the course. We are excited to keep it going in Hawaii next week."

The Eagles will take flight to Lahaina, Hawaii, to compete in the Ka'anapali Classic from Oct. 28-30. The Ka'anapali Classic is the final tournament for the Eagles' fall schedule.
