Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf completed round two of the 2024 ASUN Championship Monday in Dothan, Alabama.
"I'm really proud of our team," head coach Andrew Danna said. "We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete tomorrow."
Joseph Sullivan remained in the top five on the player leaderboard with an even-par 72. He entered the day in a four-way tie for second. At two-under for the championship, Sullivan has positioned himself just two strokes off the tournament lead in fourth place.
Lipscomb's Ford Goldasich and Laron Leisure sit atop the leaderboard at four-under-par. Sullivan struggled early Monday with two bogeys and one double bogey through the first six holes but settled in with five birdies the rest of the way. He connected on back-to-back birdie attempts on holes No. 10 and 11 and finished with another red number on 18, posting a confident three-under 33 on the back nine.
Sullivan aims to become just the second-ever individual medalist in program history during Tuesday's final round, earning his individual ticket to an upcoming NCAA Regional.
Evan Thompson is the next closest Eagle on the leaderboard, currently tying for 22nd at four-over. Thompson improved by two strokes Monday, firing a one-over 73. Teammate Matt Millar is tied for 30th overall and two shots off of Thompson's effort thus far.
Brody Stevenson (+7) and Austin Cherichella (+8) also improved upon their opening-round scorecards Monday. Stevenson eliminated one stroke while Cherichella cut two.
As a team, the Eagles (+12) fell one spot into fifth, producing a 295 effort in round two. Twelve of FGCU's 15 birdies Monday occurred on a back-nine charge.
Lipscomb (-6) has now obtained an 11-stroke advantage over second place Central Arkansas (+7). The Bisons are closing in on capturing the ASUN's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
