The Eagles
FGCU enters this weekend in search of its fourth ASUN title since 2015. The Eagles have won back-to-back matches after dropping their first league result to Kennesaw State (April 2). Overall, the team has won five of its last six outings and outscored opponents 28-14 during the stretch.
The Eagles continue to be well-represented in the ITA rankings, as three different members of the Green & Blue were tabbed in the most recent edition. Redshirt-freshman
Magnus Johnson ((Naples, Fla./Homeschool/UCF) checked in at No. 67 in singles play while the duo of redshirt-sophomore
Pedro Maciel (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Goliath Academy) and redshirt-freshman
Randy Wilson (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Miami Palmetto/Louisville) was slotted 51st in doubles.
Johnson leads the team with an 8-3 mark in singles play, which includes a 5-1 record against league opponents. The transfer is 2-1 against nationally-ranked opponents and is one of two Eagles that has picked up a ranked singles win this season, joined by freshman
Alessandro Conca (Milan, Italy/ISMC Milano).
Johnson has teamed up with sophomore
Max Damm (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Stephens Episcopal School) in doubles play and the pair has racked up a 6-2 mark at the top stop. Doubles play is also highlighted by the pair of freshman
Eric Oncins (Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) and Wilson, who are currently on a three-match winning streak.
The Ospreys
UNF will enter this weekend's match looking to snap its recent four-match skid. Prior to the losing streak, the Ospreys had won three-straight matches which included victories over both Kennesaw State and Stetson.
Sophomore Dominik Barton leads the team with nine wins in singles (9-9) and has a 4-2 record in league play. Freshman Rodrigo Crespo closely follows with eight singles wins (8-9), while freshman PJ Kotan checks in at third on the team with seven (7-8).
In doubles, the Ospreys have two different pairs that are tied for the team lead with five wins apiece. Junior Nilo Duarte and Crespo are 5-4, as are senior Federico Nani and junior Jorge Nunez.
History
The Eagles have already picked up a pair of wins over the Ospreys this season, improving their all-time mark against UNF to 8-11. In the postseason, the record between the teams is knotted up at 2-2. Most recently, FGCU defeated UNF 4-2 in the 2019 ASUN Men's Tennis Championship to secure both the crown and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

CJ WEBER
FGCU is led by three-time ASUN Coach of the Year CJ Weber,
who has coached 32 ASUN All-Conference selections since joining the Green and Blue in 2011. In his seventh year, Weber has compiled a 103-86 (.541) overall record and a 43-19 (.672) record in ASUN play. In 2014-15, Weber guided the Eagles to their first-ever ASUN Championship and first-ever ASUN Regular Season title after a program-best 17 wins. In his third season, Weber led Jordi Vives to a No. 35 national ranking, a nation-leading 14-match unbeaten streak and the round of 32 in the 2014 NCAA Tournament - the program's first appearance. The Eagles completed a perfect ASUN regular season in both 2015 and 2016, finishing with conference titles as well as a Coach of the Year honor for Weber. FGCU again won the 2017 ASUN Championship and made its second NCAA appearance. The Eagles returned to the mountaintop by claiming the 2019 regular season and tournament championships. Weber earned his third ASUN Coach of the Year honor and led the Green and Blue to their third trip to the NCAA Tournament.
