@FGCU_WSwim Completes Green-Blue Meet Saturday

FORT MYERS, FL – Hosting its annual Green-Blue Meet, the FGCU women's swimming and diving team kicked off its season against each other on Saturday with the Green team winning, 195-175.

The Eagles participated in 17 different events in which four different records were broken.

"What an awesome day!" said head coach Dave Rollins. "We had an incredible turnout, the most I've ever seen at the Green vs Blue meet and the ladies fed off it. We set four meet records, which is impressive considering the challenging training we've been doing. It's always exciting to see the team being supportive and cheering each other on. We're working on a few new things this year and it's going to be a lot of fun to see what we can do!"

On the Blue Team, the quartet of Rebecca Moynihan (Palmerston North, New Zealand/Waiopehu College), Emily Glinecke Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove High School/ASU), Cassidy Fry (Oakwood, Ohio/Oakwood HS) and Gracie Redding (Orlando, Fla./The First Academy) combined to set a new record in the 200 medley relay.

Meanwhile, in the 300 free, Elizabeth Zeiger (Cumberland, R.I./Homeschool) etched a new record for the Green Team as her teammate Petra Halmai (Dombovar, Hungary/Lanczos Kornel Secondari Grammar School) also set a record in the 150 breaststroke.

In the 200 running dive relay, Redding, Moynihan, newcomer Wiktoria Czarnecka (Lublin, Poland./Liceum nr 10 w Lublinie) and Linda Shaw (Leeds, United Kingdom/Roundhay HS) worked together to set another meet record for the Blue team.

The Eagles will begin the regular season at home on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. hosting SEC foe Florida. Last season, the Gators finished No. 17 in the polls.
