No. 75 @FGCU_MTen Ends Non-Conference Play Tuesday Against UTSA

The Eagles and Roadrunners are scheduled for a 6 p.m. start at the FGCU Tennis Complex

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After losing consecutive matches for just the second time this season, the FGCU men's tennis team returns home to face Texas-San Antonio Tuesday at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Eagles are undefeated at home this season, entering Tuesday with a 5-0 record while playing in Fort Myers. Tuesday's dual is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and also marks the final non-conference match for FGCU.

LAST TIME OUT
The USF Invite proved to be a tough task for the Eagles, going 0-2 with losses to Troy and No. 23 Penn State to fall to 9-6 on the year. For the second time in two weeks, FGCU dropped a 4-2 match to Troy. Oliver Landert (Naples, Fla./Florida Virtual School/Florida) and Andres Alfonzo (Hollywood, Fla./Texas Christian University) earned wins over the Trojans Friday to begin the weekend but the Eagles could not complete the comeback after dropping the doubles point.

Sunday against the Nittany Lions, FGCU dropped the doubles point and pushed Penn State in singles but only Landert was able to win a singles match as the Eagles lost 4-1.

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
At 2-11, UTSA has struggled to match its 17-9 season from a year ago which saw the Roadrunners end the year ranked 59th in the country. Diogo Casa has been in the No. 1 position since the start of the season and carries a 4-5 record into Tuesday. The Roadrunners are winless at the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 positions to highlight the struggles but have had success at No. 5 with a 5-4 record this season. Christian Carrillo has been playing at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, splitting time with Jake Rother.

Casa and Fabian Brand partner up at No. 1 doubles, compiling a 5-3 record. The struggles continue however, as the Roadrunners are a combined 5-17 from the remaining doubles spots.

Tuesday is the first meeting between FGCU and UTSA.

UP NEXT
