FGCU heads to Tampa for Friday evening match at No. 70 South Florida

Eagles wrap up regular season

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU's men's tennis team will wrap up the regular season on Friday evening when the Eagles head to Tampa to take on No. 70 South Florida.

The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at USF's new multi-million-dollar tennis facility. Fans can watch the match via USF's video stream.

FGCU (8-12) enters the regular season finale looking to grab a win and heal up before hosting the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament on Apr. 14-18 at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

USF (6-13) moved up in the rankings from No. 74 to No. 72 this week after splitting a pair of 4-3 decisions to higher ranked opponents, dropping a match last Friday to No. 68 Liberty before rebounding on Sunday with a win over No. 48 Harvard. The Bulls will face No. 55 Charlotte in an American Athletic Conference match-up at 11 a.m. Friday before their split doubleheader nightcap against the Eagles.

Leading the Bulls is Hugo Carr (16-11), who currently ranks No. 123 in the nation in singles. Carr has a 9-7 mark in dual match action this season with all 16 matches taking place at No. 1 singles. Both he and Elijah Cham ride a three-match winning streak in singles while Gughi Verdese, who has spent most the dual season scattered across Nos. 4-6 singles, has won four straight singles matches.

This is the first time since 2024 that the Eagles are facing the Bulls and FGCU heads to Tampa. Since next weekend's match at Stetson has been canceled, this will mark the regular season finale for FGCU before the Eagles host the ASUN Tournament on April 14-18.
