Ingham Named To College Soccer News National Team of the Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. – One day after being named the Atlantic Sun Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for a record-tying sixth time, FGCU goalkeeper Nathan Ingham was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, organization officials announced on Tuesday.

Ingham (Keswick, Ontario/Keswick HS) is the only goalkeeper on the team as both of the Eagles' final two regular-season games were factored into the organization's decision. The 13-member team features eight forwards, three midfielders, a defender and Ingham. Additionally, two opponents Ingham has faced this year – Georgetown's Brandon Allen and Wake Forest's Jack Harrison – are also on the team. Of Ingham's inclusion on the national team, College Soccer News noted:

"Ingham consistently makes the big saves that he needs to make in order to give the Eagles the opportunity to prevail. This week he had four saves in FGCU's 4-0 shutout win over USC Upstate (Oct. 24) in an A-Sun match. He also had three saves between the pipes to anchor a stout FGCU defensive effort in a solid 1-0 non-conference win over UNC Wilmington (Oct. 31). Ingham has seven clean sheets so far this year with a total of 26 career shutouts. A very good FGCU team improves to 7-3-3 with a 4-0-1 mark in A-Sun play."

The clean sheet against UNCW set the career A-Sun shutout record for Ingham as the Green and Blue went on the road and defeated the RPI No. 36 club while vaulting themselves into the RPI No. 31 position. With the 26 career shutouts, Ingham surpassed Ryan Coulter, who played for former league member ETSU from 2011-13, for the league record.

On Monday, Ingham was named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this year and record-tying sixth time in his career. Ingham has a league-leading goals against average of 0.44 which ranks seventh in the nation and nearly a full goal lower than the next-closest A-Sun keeper. Ingham is on pace to shatter the A-Sun single-season record for goals against average as the current mark is 0.61 held by Centenary's Damin Hill in 1987.

Additionally, while Ingham surpassed Coulter for the shutout record on Saturday, he also moved further in front of him for the conference's best career goals against average. Ingham now boasts a 0.93 goals against average for his career, ahead of Coulter's record mark of 0.95.

One year after leading the A-Sun in nearly every goalkeeping statistic, Ingham is again pacing the conference by wide margins in goals against average, shutouts (three more than anyone else) and save percentage (.872, .119 better than anyone else). Ingham is tied for sixth in the country in save percentage and is easily on pace to set the FGCU single-season program record in that category as well.

The Eagles are the No. 1 seed in the upcoming A-Sun Championship, which gets underway Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. as the FGCU Soccer Complex will serve as host of the match featuring No. 4 seed USC Upstate vs. No. 5 seed Jacksonville. The winner of that contest will then face FGCU in a semifinal at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.

No. 2 seed UNF will host the other semifinal against No. 3 seed Lipscomb that same night. The final is set for Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
