GREENVILLE, S.C. - Florida Gulf Coast University's women's golf team continues its fall slate this weekend at the Lady Paladin Invitational, hosted by Furman University at the Furman University Golf Course.

FGCU is joined by a 12-team field that includes Alabama, Augusta, Daytona State, Furman, Georgia State, High Point, Minnesota, Old Dominion, Rice, Samford and Xavier. The Eagles tied for fifth at last year's edition of the event at 3-over, with then-Eagle Jordan Fischer, now a member of the Epson Tour, tying for second individually.

The three-day event runs Sept. 18-20, with tee times set for 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. The Eagles will open round one paired with High Point, Old Dominion and Xavier at the par-72, 6,439-yard layout.

Representing FGCU this weekend will be Charlene Lamb, Sydney Deal, Annie Yost, Gia Culler-Guerra and Sarah Hyten, while junior Ann Burel will compete as an individual.

"We're taking five players and one individual this week, really trying to get players some experience and see who's going to be in that lineup for the coming months," head coach Shannon Sykora said in the latest episode of "Flight Plan".

LAST TIME OUT:
The Eagles closed out the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League Tournament in eighth place at Grand Fields Country Club in Shizuoka, Japan, posting a final-round 289 to finish at 899 (304-306-289) for the three days.

Lamb turned in the low round for the Eagles and the best round of the tournament for FGCU, carding a 4-under 67 in the final round to finish tied for 18th at 221 (+8). She played the front nine in 4-under 32 with four birdies and no bogeys before closing with an even-par 35. Lamb's performance in Japan earned her ASUN Golfer of the Week honors, the first of the season for the conference.

Yost finished tied for 26th at 225 (+12) after an even-par 72 in the final round, while Deal also finished at 225 (+12), tied for 26th, despite a difficult closing 6-over 77. Hyten carded a 4-over 75 in the final round to finish tied for 38th at 231 (+18), and Culler-Guerra closed with a 4-over 75 of her own to finish tied for 42nd at 233 (+20).

MAKING HER DEBUT:
Burel will make her first start as an Eagle this week, competing as an individual at the Lady Paladin Invitational. Burel joins FGCU after two standout seasons at Eastern Florida State College, where she finished her sophomore campaign ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA with a 75.1 scoring average across 19 rounds and nine tournaments. She recorded four top-three finishes and won three tournaments - the SSC Fall Warmup, Hooves at the Highlands and the Pfeiffer Spring Invite - while placing fifth at the NJCAA Division I District 8 Championship and 19th at the NJCAA Division I Women's National Championship.

FGCU will look to build on last year's fifth-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational as the Eagles continue their fall season this weekend in Greenville.
