FORT MYERS, Fla. -
Charlene Lamb has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.
The freshman closed out the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League Tournament in Shizuoka, Japan, with the low round of the week for the Eagles, carding a 4-under 67 in the final round to help FGCU to an eighth-place team finish. Lamb finished the tournament at 221 (77-77-67) to tie for 18th in the women's standings.
Lamb turned in the best nine holes of the week for FGCU on the front nine of the final round, playing it in 4-under 32 with four birdies and no bogeys, before closing with an even-par 35 on the back nine.
"Charlene showed a lot of poise in her first collegiate tournament, especially finishing the way she did on Friday," said head coach
Shannon Sykora. "It's a great sign of what's to come from her this season."
Next up for the Eagles is the Lady Paladin Invitational, set for Sept. 18-20 in Greenville, S.C., hosted by Furman.
