SHIZUOKA, Japan - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team will open its 2026-27 season overseas, traveling to Shizuoka, Japan, to compete in the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League Tournament at Grand Fields Country Club. The event marks the first tournament at the helm for new head coach Lee McCoy.

With the time zone difference, the Pan Pacific UGSL Tournament will take place Sept. 2-4 locally, but will take place Sept. 1-3 stateside. The Eagles will tee off round one at 7:30 a.m. locally (6:30 p.m. ET).

FGCU enters the season as the reigning ASUN Champions after winning its first-ever conference title a season ago, and the Eagles begin the defense of that crown on the other side of the world. Representing FGCU in Japan are Christian Figueredo, Brody Stevenson, Alfie Storer, Trevor Tingle and Jay Wilson.

The Pan Pacific UGSL Tournament will be played at Grand Fields Country Club, a par-71 layout stretching 7,219 yards. Joining FGCU in the field are New Mexico, Seattle, TCU, Waseda, Nihon, Chuo Gakuin, Chukyo, Tokai University Kyushu, National Taiwan Sport, Korea National Sport and Tohoku Fukushi. Live scoring will be provided by Scoreboard.

Leading the way for the Eagles is senior Christian Figueredo. Figueredo competed in 12 tournaments as a junior, posting a 72.8 scoring average across 35 rounds and playing a key role in FGCU's first ASUN Championship. His best finish came at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island, where he tied for 10th at 10-under (206), highlighted by a second-round 66 that featured an eagle and seven birdies. He also turned in a 5-under showing at the Ka'anapali Classic and closed the year ranked No. 719 nationally.

Senior Brody Stevenson also returns after a junior season that saw him play five tournaments and 15 rounds with a 73.8 scoring average. Stevenson's top finish came at the West Bay Collegiate, where he tied for 15th at 6-under (210) behind a seven-birdie second round. He also carded back-to-back eagles on hole six in the first two rounds at the Ka'anapali Classic.

Fifth-year Alfie Storer joins the Eagles after four seasons at Wingate University. Storer helped lead Wingate to the national semifinals as a junior and earned All-American Scholar honors along the way. In his most recent season, he played 30 rounds across 10 tournaments with a 72.0 stroke average, highlighted by a win at the Patriot Fall Classic (68-67-70, -11) and a sixth-place finish at the Currahee Collegiate Invite.

Freshman Trevor Tingle arrives at FGCU after a standout senior season at Miami Palmetto Senior High School, where he won the Florida Junior Tour MLK Major and posted top-25 finishes on both the Florida Junior Tour and AJGA circuit.

Also making his collegiate debut is freshman Jay Wilson, who helped lead Elba High School to an AHSAA Golf Team State Championship while claiming three AHSAA Golf Solo State Championships of his own. Wilson tied for the third-lowest scoring average in AHSAA history and was recognized academically as a member of the Senior Beta Club and All-A Honor Roll, in addition to being named Salutatorian.

The FGCU women's golf team will also be in action in Japan, competing in a women's division that runs concurrently at the same event.

With Lee McCoy leading the way in his first tournament as head coach of the Eagles, FGCU opens its title defense thousands of miles from home, kicking off a new era for the program on the other side of the Pacific.
