FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf team earned a series of ASUN honors for the 2025-26 season, the conference announced Wednesday, with head coach
Shannon Sykora claiming his second straight ASUN Women's Golf Coach of the Year award,
Leonie Wulfers earning ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and four Eagles earning all-conference recognition.
"This has been a special team and I am so proud to coach these young ladies," said Sykora.
For the second straight year, Sykora was recognized as the top coach in the ASUN after guiding the Eagles to a standout 2025-26 campaign. FGCU finished the year ranked No. 68 nationally according to Clippd, the highest of any ASUN program, and led the conference with a team adjusted scoring average of 292.8 across 11 tournaments. As a team, FGCU recorded four top-three and eight top-five finishes, while the Eagles' golfers combined for one individual championship, four top-three finishes and nine top 10 finishes.
Wulfers was one of the most decorated golfers in the ASUN this season, earning All-ASUN First Team, Academic All-ASUN, and ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition. She finished the year ranked No. 225 nationally, the third-highest in the conference, and posted an adjusted scoring average of 73.6 across eight tournaments. Wulfers recorded three top 10 and five top 20 finishes, with her best performance coming in February at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate, where she won the individual championship at 3-under par. The senior carries a 3.973 GPA while majoring in PGM Golf Management.
Alcantara earned All-ASUN First Team recognition after a consistent season that featured two podium finishes. She finished the year ranked No. 342 nationally, the fourth-highest in the ASUN, and posted an adjusted scoring average of 73.6 across 10 tournaments with four top 10 finishes. Alcantara took third at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate in February at 4-over and then backed it up with a third-place finish at the 2026 ASUN Women's Golf Championship last weekend at 5-under, earning a spot on the ASUN All-Tournament Team.
Deal was named to the All-ASUN Second Team after posting an adjusted scoring average of 73.5 across 10 tournaments. She finished the year ranked No. 393 nationally, the sixth-highest in the ASUN, and recorded five top 20 finishes on the season. Her strongest outing came at the 2026 ASUN Women's Golf Championship last weekend, where she finished sixth at 1-under par.
Gauthier rounded out FGCU's all-conference honorees with a spot on the All-ASUN Third Team and Academic All-ASUN recognition. She finished the year ranked No. 559 nationally and posted an adjusted scoring average of 74.5 across nine tournaments, recording four top 20 finishes. Her best results came at The Southern in September, where she finished 11th at 9-over, and at the Bell Bank 'Pay it Forward' Collegiate in March, where she took 12th at 3-under. Gauthier carries a 3.650 GPA while majoring in Software Engineering.
