Eagles Finish Runner-Up at Bell Bank Collegiate, Place All Five Inside Top 20

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - The Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf team closed out play at the Bell Bank "Pay it Forward" Collegiate on Tuesday afternoon at Wigwam Golf Club – Blue Course, finishing second overall at 16-under par. The Eagles placed all five golfers inside the top 20 in a strong showing against a competitive field.

Amelie Alcantara and Leonie Wulfers led the way with matching 4-under totals to tie for seventh, while Lousiane Gauthier climbed to 12th at 3-under following a final-round 67. Sydney Deal added a 1-under finish to tie for 15th, and Islay Benoit rounded out the lineup in 19th at even par. As a team, the Eagles led the field with 63 birdies, tied for the most pars (160), and recorded the fewest bogeys, highlighting their consistency throughout the event.

How It Happened
Amelie Alcantara and Leonie Wulfers led the way for FGCU, with both players finishing tied for seventh at 4-under par for the tournament. Alcantara posted rounds of 70, 67, and 72, capping her week with a 1-over final round that included four birdies. She finished with 15 total birdies, tied for the third-most in the field. Wulfers recorded rounds of 69, 68, and 72, closing also with a 1-over final round. Her tournament was highlighted by 15 birdies as well, matching Alcantara for third-most in the field.

Lousiane Gauthier finished tied for 12th at 3-under par, turning in rounds of 72, 71, and an impressive 67 in the final round. Gauthier caught fire on Tuesday with five birdies and only one bogey to climb 14 spots up the leaderboard. She totaled 11 birdies for the tournament and added 35 pars, tied for 15th-most in the field.

Sydney Deal placed tied for 15th at 1-under par after rounds of 74, 68, and 70. Deal bounced back from a tough opening round with two under-par performances, including a steady 1-under final round that featured six birdies, five of which coming on the back nine. She finished with 12 birdies, tied for 10th-most in the field, and added 33 pars.

Islay Benoit rounded out the lineup tied for 19th at even par with rounds of 72, 70, and 71. Benoit closed her tournament with an even-par final round, highlighted by a birdies on holes 14 and 18. She totaled nine birdies and 36 pars, tied for 11th-most in the field.

As a team, the Eagles turned in one of the most complete performances in the field. FGCU recorded 160 pars, tied for the most among all teams, while their 63 birdies led the field outright. The Eagles also finished with the fewest bogeys in the tournament, showcasing their consistency across all three rounds.

What's Next
The Eagles will close out the regular season at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia on March 28-30 at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
