ORLANDO – FGCU had two new school records set Friday night as new marks were recorded in the men's and women's 10,000-meter races at the Black and Gold Challenge hosted by UCF.
On the women's side,
Ozia Trujillo was the runner-up in the race and her time of 35:25.42 set FGCU's school record in the race. Teammate
Alise Petrova immediately followed in third and her time of 36:09.15 now ranks second-best in school history.
Siyabonga Mokgothu again led the men's team and his second-place time of 30:21.40 set a new men's 10K record for the progam.
Innocent Ntwali followed in seventh, posting the second-best time in school history with a mark of 30:57.60 while
Evan Casterline, who finished 11
th , posted the third-best time in school history with a mark of 31:28.24.
In the men's 5K,
Jacob Leon ran the third-fastest time an Eagle freshman has ever ran, posting a mark of 15:01.49 to place fifth in the event.
FGCU returns to Orlando next week for the UCF Knights Invite.
