FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU's distance runners are once again headed to Orlando to test their 5K abilities, competing in the UCF Knights Invite on Friday evening.
The women's group will run at 7:55 p.m. while the men are set to race at 8:15 p.m.
On the women's side,
Addison Torres leads a quartet of Eagles competing in a 28-runner field that also features competitors from UCF, Stetson, Jacksonville and several others.
Addison Torres led the FGCU contingent in the 5K last weekend in Orlando, finishing sixth with a time of 18:00.60. She hopes to surpass that and eclipse her personal best time of 17:55.46 that she clocked last year in Tampa.
On the men's side,
Nekhi Perry will headline a handful of FGCU runners in a 37-runner field split into two heats. Perry last ran the 5K on Mar. 13 in Tampa with a time of 15:39.73, and hopes to beat his personal best mark of 15:24.32 that he recorded last April at USF.
