FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU's cross country team continues its spring competition schedule Friday night when the Eagles will race in the 5K and 10K races at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge.
The women's 5K race starts things off for the Eagles at 7:50 p.m.
Ozia Trujillo leads an FGCU contingent of four in a race scheduled to have 26 runners overall. Trujillo ran a personal best time of 17:19.04 in the 5K at the Florida Relays last year and has a pair of top-five finishes in the 5K when running on the track.
She will have a busy night as she is also scheduled to run in the 10K at 8:30 p.m. alongside teammate
Alise Petrova. Both will be running their first competitive 10K on the track on Friday.
Jacob Leon, who set the freshman school record in the 3K in Tampa last month, will focus on a longer race. He leads a group of five Eagles in a crowded men's 5K field of 32 runners. Then wrapping up the evening,
Siyabonga Mokgothu leads a quintet of Eagles in the 10K.
