FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU swept by Cleveland State, 7-0, on Wednesday morning at the FGCU Tennis Complex, claiming the doubles point then sweeping all six singles matches to complete the shutout.
FGCU (11-4) secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Nora Svensson and
June Bjork defeated Ella Franz and Mel Petkova Mustafa, 6-3, on court one. In the No. 3 doubles match,
Sabrina Jaramillo and
Ashley Matz claimed a 6-4 win against Jenna Redmile and Laura Tapia. It marked the first time since Feb. 22 that the Eagles had won the doubles point.
In singles, the Eagles swept all six matches. Jaramillo started off with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over Redmile to record her team-leading 16
th singles win of the season. Bjork followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Anna Mancino at No. 2 singles for 11
th win of the season and pushed the score to 3-0.
Anjali Kotecha secured the match for the Eagles as she registered a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles over Laura Tapia, notching her 13
th win of the season. Continuing,
Africa Burillo Berezak returned to the win column with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Leah Geisz at No. 6 singles.
Svensson, drawing even with Jaramillo, recorded her 16
th singles win of the season by recording a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles before Matz completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Petkova Mustafa at No. 3 singles.

- Svensson and Jaramillo remained in the team lead with their 16th singles win of the year.
- This marks the second 7-0 win of the season for the Eagles, the last coming against Middle Tennessee on Jan. 25. It is the third winning sweep of the season for Florida Gulf Coast.
- Green & Blue is now 2-0 all-time against the Vikings.
- The Eagles maintained their perfect record against Horizon League programs, moving their all-time record against that conference to 8-0.
