FORT MYERS, Fla. – The road warrior mentality for Florida Gulf Coast's men's tennis team continues this weekend as the Eagles head to North Carolina for three matches in three days. FGCU will play at Elon on Friday and UNC Greensboro on Saturday before opening Atlantic Sun Conference play at Queens on Sunday.
First up will be Friday's match at Elon, set for a 4 p.m. start. The Phoenix (2-4) are off to a challenging start and recently dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 23 NC State, but don't let that record fool you. Elon went 11-8 last spring, advancing to a fourth consecutive Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) tournament championship match.

All-time against Southern Conference programs, the Eagles are 10-16 with the last meeting coming last season as FGCU faced both Mercer and East Tennessee State. Florida Gulf Coast will host both programs later this season, Mercer being the Eagles' home opener on Mar. 4 while ETSU visits Fort Myers on Mar. 17.
ASUN play for the Eagles will begin on Sunday at 10 a.m. with a visit to Queens in Charlotte. The Eagles are 9-7 (.563) all-time in ASUN openers and are looking for their first win in a conference opener since 2023 when they defeated Stetson, 4-3. Sunday's match marks the first time FGCU has opened conference play on the road since 2021, when the Green & Blue opened league play with a 5-2 win at North Florida. FGCU is 7-10 (.412) all-time in their first conference road match of the season.
