FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's soccer will wrap up its four-game homestand with a pivotal ASUN tilt against Lipscomb at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Saturday evening's contest will be Fan Appreciation Night, with a soccer scarf giveaway and concessions deals all game long.
The last time out, the Eagles gave FAU all it could handle on Tuesday night. FGCU thought it had found a game-winning goal in the 87th minute when
Hugo Munter got his head on a perfect corner kick from
Emilio Rossi to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Owls, however, amped up their press in the final moments and found an equalizer with 37 seconds remaining to bring the game to the 1-1 tie.
The draw represented FGCU's first result against their cross-state rivals since a win at Pickering Field in 2022, snapping a three-game skid. It's the third tie all-time between the two programs, and the first since 2020.
After not finishing tied in the first eight games of 2026, the Eagles have now played to a draw in three of their last four games.Â
Aron Martinez remains tied for the ASUN lead with six goals and ranks second in the conference with 15 points. He's also atop the conference in shots, with 31, and is tied for first with 16 shots on goal.
Lipscomb enters at 3-7-1, but the Bisons are 2-2-0 in ASUN action. Lipscomb's lone nonconference win was a 2-1 upset of Kentucky; the Bisons also drew with UAB. In conference play, Lipscomb has taken down Queens and Jacksonville, but fell to Stetson and Central Arkansas.
Yonis Kireh and Tobías Sosa each have three goals for the Bisons; Kireh's 900 minutes also lead the squad and James Sasere has three assists. In net, Alex Kara has played nine of Lipscomb's 11 games and has all four results with a 3-5-1 record. His 32 saves ranks tied for third in the ASUN.Â
The Eagles lead the all-time series 11-8-1 and are 9-2-0 at Pickering Field. The two sides will meet for the first time since Oct. 19, 2024, when FGCU recorded a 2-0 home win.Â
