FGCU hits road again for pivotal tilt at Central Arkansas

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's soccer returns to the road for a key ASUN test at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, against Central Arkansas.

The last time out, the Eagles closed their four-game homestand with a resounding 3-0 shutout of Lipscomb. Aron Martinez, Brooks Beeman and Dani Garcia each found the back of the net, and Harvey Sellers pitched FGCU's second clean sheet of the season in the win.

Martinez's strike moved him into a nine-way tie for the fifth-most goals in a single season in FGCU history. With three regular season games remaining, Martinez sits one tally behind Shak Adams, who scored eight goals in 2018, and two behind Mullings' 2019 campaign, when he posted nine goals. Mullings and Adams currently occupy sole possession of third and fourth in the Eagles' single-season goals record book, respectively.

Martinez now leads the ASUN in goals, shots (35), and shots on goal (18), and is tied for the conference lead with 17 points; his three assists rank tied for seventh. The Dodge City, Kan., native has recorded a point in 9 of 13 contests this season.

Felix, who assisted Beeman's goal, is tied for second in the ASUN with four assists. Meanwhile, Beeman moved into second on the squad and a tie for sixth in the conference with his fourth goal of the season.

FGCU is averaging 1.85 goals per game in 2026 after only averaging 1.44 goals per game in 2025. Martinez's seven goals are complemented by Beeman's four, along with three from Flavio D'Angelo and Emerson LaOrden. Michael Ndiweni and Garcia each have a pair of scores.

The six different Eagles to score multiple goals has already surpassed FGCU's 2025 total of five. After the win over Lipscomb, the Eagles have also eclipsed their totals of 23 goals and 17 assists from 2025, with 24 goals, 20 assists and three regular season games remaining. FGCU's offense leads the ASUN in total goals scored with 24, and in goals per game with 1.85. The Eagles are third in the ASUN in total assists with 20, and are second in points per game (5.23).

Central Arkansas enters at 5-4-2 and 2-1-1 in ASUN play. The Bears have not lost on their home grass this season, with a 4-0-1 mark in Conway. The lone home draw came in conference action with a 1-1 result against Jacksonville. UCA earned their four home wins over Lipscomb, Belmont, Oral Roberts and Central Baptist.

The Bears are 2-1-1 and fourth in the conference table with a loss to North Florida and win over Bellarmine. UCA's previously scheduled matchup against West Florida was postponed due to anticipated impacts from Hurricane Isaias, so the Bears will hit the pitch on Saturday for the first time in 14 days.
Vaclav Kozeny and Maxim Sheenkov have matched on the scoresheet with four goals and one assist each. No other Bear has scored more than once, but Garner Wolfe has tallied a team-leading three assists. Merrick Cook has seen the bulk of the action in goal, with 41 saves, an .820 save percentage and 1.00 GAA through nine games.

The all-time series is split, 1-1-2. FGCU's lone win came in the last meeting, when the Eagles took a 2-1 victory in Conway on Oct. 25, 2024. The Bears recorded a 2-1 victory in the first meeting between the two sides in October 2021. FGCU is 1-0-1 against UCA in Conway.
