Women's tennis drop close battle at Lipscomb

Florida Gulf Coast University women's tennis dropped a narrow 4-3 defeat at Lipscomb University Friday morning in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Bisons began the morning by winning the doubles point.

In singles, Francisca Vergara got the Eagles on the board winning 6-2, 6-0 on court No. 5. Isabella Colmenares then added another point as she delivered a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court No. 2.

Lipscomb tied the match after Ashley Matz fell 6-3, 6-4 on court No. 1. and then took a 3-2 lead as Nora Svensson dropped her match on court No. 4 with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) decision.

Anjali Kotecha kept the Green & Blue in the match and with an opportunity to still win as she delivered a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 score on court No. 2.

With the pressure all on court No. 6, Paloma Goldsmith won the first set 6-4 but couldn't seal the win and dropped the other two sets with 6-3, 6-3 scores.

 FGCU will now head to University of North Alabama (7-6) Sunday at 11 a.m. in Florence,   Alabama.
