Women's tennis sweeps Queens 7-0

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Paloma Goldsmith clinched the match for Florida Gulf Coast University's women's tennis as the Eagles earned another Atlantic Sun Conference victory defeating Queens University of Charlotte 7-0 Friday at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

The Eagles (9-6, 3-1 ASUN) won the doubles point over the Royals (1-12, 0-3 ASUN)  to get the match started. 

"The ladies are improving each time they compete and learning more about themselves," FGCU head coach Courtney Vernon said. "They are looking forward to playing again on Sunday."  

The Green and Blue continued its offensive dominance after doubles, and Anjali Kotecha earned a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory on court No. 3 before Paloma Goldsmith clinched the match for the Eagles on court No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-0.

Ashley Matz delivered a 6-0, 6-2 win on court No. 1 and Isabella Colmenares followed along with a 6-3, 6-2 showing on court No. 2.

Nora Svensson wrapped up the Eagles sweep with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on court No. 4.

FGCU will next welcome Eastern Kentucky (7-13, 0-1 ASUN) Sunday for another  Atlantic Sun Conference play at 10 a.m.
