CJ Smith won two singles points, Guglielmo Stefanacci won his singles match against Alabama State and Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis took the doubles point against Alabama State in the three matches played at Florida State in Tallahassee, Florida.

Smith won his singles match against Georgia Southern 6-0, 6-2 against Milan Ristov to secure the first point of the season for the Eagles. Smith continued his success in the Alabama State match winning his doubles match with partner Hugo Magnusson.

Stefanacci and Jonathan Baron took their doubles match on court one against Alabama State to secure the doubles point for the Eagles. Going into singles competition up 1-0, FGCU was able to pull out wins on courts three and six by Stefanacci, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, and Smith 6-2, 6-4, to nearly pull the win against Alabama State before dropping the match 4-3.

Baron battled tough against FSU in singles action, winning his first set 6-4 and going into a third set before the match was called.

The Green and Blue return to action next week in Orlando against UCF and Southern Miss on Jan. 17 and 18.
