Stevenson ties for fourth place at Aggie Invitational

Brody Stevenson charged up the leaderboard Sunday to tie for fourth to highlight Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf at The Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas.

"They played for each other this week, and worked hard to get the most we could out of the event," head coach Andrew Danna said. "I'm really proud of our team. Our freshman Brody Stevenson did exceptionally well this week. He knew exactly how important his round was for our team today and stepped up coming down the stretch. We are looking forward to heading up north to Penn State on Thursday."

Stevenson found his footing during Saturday's second round, improving each round and fired an even-par 72 to climb up 22 positions. He entered Sunday's final round 18th overall, and opened the tournament with a 78.

On Sunday, he produced a bogey-free front nine and sank back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 en route to a three-under 69. Stevenson (+3) emerged as the only Eagle to card a round in the 60s, soaring up another 14 spots for a season-best finish of T4 on the player leaderboard.

The Saint Augustine, Florida, native finished just two strokes off the tournament leaders.

Joseph Sullivan (+7) tied for 17th after his fifth round of golf in a span of five days. He competed in a PGA Tour event, the Valero Texas Open, on Thursday and Friday and then reunited with the Eagles an hour away for the collegiate tournament.

As a team, the Eagles finished 10th, posting back-to-back 304 rounds. Baylor took home the team title at 14-over. The Green and Blue sank the sixth most birdies among the 12-team field, consisting of a top 25 team and three current programs in the top 50.

FGCU shifts its focus toward its final regular season event, the Rutherford Intercollegiate April 13-14 in State College, Pennsylvania.
