Joseph Sullivan climbed into the top 25 Friday as Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf completed day one of the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.

"I'm really proud of our team," head coach Andrew Danna said. "We struggled a bit today as a team, but our student-athletes did a great job managing a tough start. We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete tomorrow morning."

All 16 teams were able to finish Friday's round one and two. Impending weather in the upcoming forecast has altered the remaining tournament schedule.

The final standings of the tournament will resort back to the completion of Friday's 36 holes if all players in the field finish nine or more holes on Saturday and are unable to complete the 18 scheduled holes due to weather or darkness that day. If all players in the field do not complete a minimum of nine holes on Saturday, Saturday's scores will be erased, and the teams will attempt to complete the final round on Sunday.

Tournament host Florida leads the 16-team field at 22-under-par. Florida's very own Ian Gilligan sits atop the player leaderboard at nine-under, closing the day with a tournament-low 62.

The Eagles (+13) slipped to 13th overall, but Sullivan heated up in the round two, firing a three-under 67. At even par, Sullivan is tied for 21st to enter the final day of play. His nearly bogey-free round two propelled him up 27 spots up the leaderboard, his 12th par or better round of the season.

Fellow Eagle Matt Millar sits just outside the top 25 at one-over. Millar opened the event with a one-under 69, which including five birdies for his fourth sub-70 round of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Eagles aim to tee off Saturday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m.
