FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving won seven events at the Eagles Holiday Splash, finishing third Thursday.
"We will always appreciate the opportunity to compete and learn from every race and dive," FGCU head coach
Dave Rollins said. "We definitely can see the wear on their bodies and minds this time of year, coming off finals and building back into peak training. We're looking forward to the team being with their families for a couple of days and then back to campus as we build toward the ASUN Championship."
The Green and Blue won the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay, with the team of
Izzy Ackley,
Ella Smith,
Libby Russum and
Mia Burke touching first with a time of 1:43.66. The Eagles capped the meet with another relay win in the 100 free relay from the team of Russum,
Alexis Mishler,
Jasmin Kroll and Burke with a time of 45.28.
Ackley started the individual event wins by touching first in the 75 back (40.72), 50 back (26.16) and 25 back (12.43). Russum wrapped up the swimming event wins with a win in the 50 fly (25.08).
Bailey Betzer continued her success on the 1-meter with a win in the event, posting a score of 242.25.
FGCU returns to the pool Jan. 4, 2025 for the Triple Distance Invitational on the FGCU campus.
