FORT MYERS, Fla. - After clinching the three seed on Saturday, Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to face Bellarmine, the sixth seed, on Saturday at 7 p.m. If the Eagles win, they will turn around 48 hours later for a match against hosts North Florida at 7 p.m. All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
In regular season play, FGCU lost to Bellarmine 2-0 on the road. This match came as a makeup for a postponed match where the Eagles were on the road for two consecutive matches. Belllarmine sat back in a low block for the game, falling into a 4-4-2 with all 11 players within 30 yards of the goal. The Knights were able to capitalize on the mistakes of the Eagles, taking the match.
The Green and Blue faced UNF at home. The match went back and forth with a
Shoki Yoshida goal in the fourth minute to open up the scoring before the Ospreys tied it at one just four minutes later.
Alon Drey would score a PK in the 65th minute to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead that they would relinquish with three minutes and 39 seconds left on the clock for the eventual 2-2 draw. If that goal was not given up, FGCU would be hosting this weekend.
The championship match will be hosted at the highest remaining seed's field. If FGCU were to advance to the championship it would either be at Stetson or hosted by the Eagles. The championship match is on November 16.
