Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving wrapped up the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston on Friday, placing fifth with 792 points. The three day meet saw two NCAA B cuts and one zone cut posted by the Eagles.
"I'm very proud of how we competed," said head coach Dave Rolins. "Seeing lifetime bests is always exciting, but our goal was to be better than our invite. Goal accomplished. We had 12 new top 10 times, we achieved two NCAA B cuts, a zone diving score and countless best times. I'm excited about where we are as a team and to get back to work. These ladies are ready for great things."
The Eagles excelled in the 200 back with
Jordan Durocher (1:57.05) placing second and
Izzy Ackley (1:57.96) placing fourth. Ackley qualified first out of prelims.
In the 100 free,
Libby Russum placed sixth, touching at 50.26.
Mia Burke secured an 11
5th place finish with a time of 50.62.
Ella Smith and
Rebecca Winn posted top 15 times in the 200 breast placing 10
th and 15
th, respectively with times of 2:17.97 and 2:18.80.
The divers competed in the rare platform event for FGCU.
Brianna Rodetsky posted the highest score on tower with a mark of 183.75.
Up next for FGCU swimming and diving is the US Open from Dec. 4 – 7.
