Swimming and diving finish third at FIU classic

Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving completed the FIU Classic in Miami on Saturday, placing third with 490 points.

"With our first official meet of the year in the books, I'm very happy with how we represented the the Green and Blue this weekend," head coach Dave Rollins said. "No one let the weather play a factor in their competition. We had multiple event wins, a few lifetime best times and given the fact Mother Nature seems to not want us to practice in the afternoon, we competed very well. We're looking forward to getting some consistent training in moving forward. We have a long season ahead, but we're off to a great start."

Jordan Durocher earned her second event win of the meet in the 200 back, touching in 2:03.28. Durocher earned 67 points at the meet, the most of any Eagle. Cassie Bauer won the 200 IM touching at 2:07.54 and placed third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.35. Bauer ended the meet with 61 points.

In the diving well, Bella Pfeil earned her second podium finish, this time placing second on the three meter with a score of 262.25. Pfeil had the highest DD (degree of difficulty) on her six dives with a total DD of 18.

The Eagles return home for the Green and Blue Intersquad on Oct.12 before hosting the Eagle Invitational from Oct. 18-19.
