Men's golf opens Badger Invitational Sunday

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf returns to the course Sunday to compete in the Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin.

FGCU enters its third fall event of the year coming off a season-best, fifth-place performance at the Bearcat Invitational. The Eagles hold an average team score of 287.33 per round this season.

To open the fall campaign, Joseph Sullivan won the Texas Valero Collegiate's individual title. At the Bearcat Invitational, Sebastian Gamboa led all Eagles with a career-best, eighth-place finish on the player leaderboard.

The Badger Invitational is a three-day event held at the University Bridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin. One 18-hole round is scheduled for each day of the event, Sunday through Tuesday. Live stats will be available through LeaderboardKing.

Seventeen teams are set to tee off Sunday: Campbell, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, FGCU, Illinois State, Long Beach State, Loyola of Chicago, Marquette, Maryland, MTSU, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, South Alabama, South Dakota State, VCU, Western Carolina and Wisconsin. 

Sullivan, Gamboa, Austin Cherichella, Matt Millar, and Evan Thompson round out the projected starting five for the Eagles.
