Eagles Win Atlantic Invitational, Gauthier Crowned Individual Champion

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Freshman Lousiane Gauthier (Canelones, Uruguay/Colegio Stella Maris) and the FGCU women's golf team won both the individual and team titles Tuesday at The Atlantic Invitational.

The Eagles' combined 5-under-par 847 team score clinched the tournament by seven strokes. FGCU's final score marked the lowest 54-hole total in program history, the first of three records to be broken.

"It's was a great team and individual win," said FGCU women's golf head coach Shannon Sykora. "For us to shoot 285 with the lead, I thought we handled the final round very well. I'm really proud of the team."

The Green & Blue shot the lowest team round in school history Monday, a second-round 278, to propel itself into first place for good. Troy finished second on the team leaderboard at 2-over.

Tuesday's team title is the first of the season for FGCU, coach Sykora's first career tournament victory at FGCU, and the first since March of last year (2021-22) at the Spring Break Shootout.

Gauthier won her first individual title of her career, finishing at 11-under-par 202. Her opening-round 65 tied the lowest round in school history. She joined Laura Edmonds as the only Eagles to ever card a round of 65. Gauthier sank seven birdies en route to her 6-under-par round.

She followed with a 1-under 70 in the second round and closed with a 4-under 68 to be crowned individual champion. Gauthier captured the individual title by three strokes over Florida Atlantic's Letizia Bagnoli.

Gauthier's 202 also marked the lowest 54-hole total in program history.

Sophomore Anna Claire Bridge (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS/FAU) fired three straight rounds of even-par 71s to tie for 12th. Sophomore Posie Farrelly (Lutz, Fla./George Steinbrenner HS) finished tied for 21st at 3-over, and freshman Grace Rigby-Walden (Gerrards Cross, England/The Chalfonts Community College) finished 5-over for T23rd.

Farrelly recorded a hole-in-one Monday on the 113-yard 17th to highlight her outing.

FGCU returns to action March 13-14 at the Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Western Kentucky in Dade City, Fla.
