Eagles Card Lowest Team Round in Program History, Gauthier Shoots 65

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – The FGCU women's golf team shot the lowest team round in program history Monday, propelling the Eagles into first place at The Atlantic Invitational.

FGCU's record-breaking, second-round 278 bested the school previous record by one stroke – which was set last season (2021-22) at the Jupiter Invitational.

The Green & Blue sit atop the 12-team team leaderboard at 6-under-par. Troy is in second place at 5-under through two rounds. The top four teams are separated by just five strokes as the final round of play is set for Tuesday.

"It was fun to see some low scores," said FGCU women's golf head coach Shannon Sykora. "We did what we had to do for 36 holes, but we have a long way to go and several teams are right behind us."

Freshman Lousiane Gauthier's (Canelones, Uruguay/Colegio Stella Maris) opening-round 65 tied the lowest round in school history. She joins Laura Edmonds as the only Eagles to card a round of 65. Gauthier sank seven birdies en route to her 6-under-par performance.

She would follow with a 70 and is tied for first on the individual leaderboard at 7 under alongside Letizia Bagnoli from Florida Atlantic.

Both sophomore Anna Claire Bridge (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS/FAU) and freshman Grace Rigby-Walden (Gerrards Cross, England/The Chalfonts Community College) are tied for 13th at even par. Bridge shot back-to-back rounds of 71, while Walden posted a 3-under 68 in the second round.

Sophomore Posie Farrelly (Lutz, Fla./George Steinbrenner HS) rounded out the counting scores for the Eagles, and is tied for 21st. Farrelly's Monday effort was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the 113-yard 17th.
