Czarnecka Claims Three Golds on Night Two of CCSAs

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A big night by senior Wiktoria Czarnecka (Lublin, Poland/Liceum 10 NR W Lublinie) highlighted day two of the CCSA Championships on Thursday. Overall, the Eagles sit in second place with 797 points, only behind Liberty who has 968.50 points.

"Big day for the Eagles, we are now 3 for 3 on relays wins, with each having posted the 6th fastest time in school history," said head coach Dave Rollins. "We always pride ourselves on how we perform in relays, and the team is doing a great job. Congratulations to Tori on her first-ever, 100 fly victory! Also, congratulations to Julia on making the podium again! We have a great day ahead of us tomorrow, lots of swims and we get to see our divers back on the boards!"

Czarnecka won three golds on night two giving her five in the first two days of this year's championship. Individually she took home the title in the 100 fly with a time of 53.34, winning by over a second in addition to two relay wins.

The Eagles opened the night winning the 200 free relay with the quartet of Czarnecka, junior Kaja Reinhardt (Herdecke, Germany/Helene-Lange-Gymnasium Dortmund), senior Brittney Pike (Boerne, Texas/Boerne Samuel V. Champion/Arkansas), junior Hailey Jerew (Miami, Fla./Cutler Bay Senior High) with a time of 1:30.82. The Eagles have now won this event two years in a row and for the sixth time overall.

Czarnecka and Jerew picked up another gold to end the night as they teamed up with junior Claire McAtee (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and redshirt-senior Petra Halmai (Dombovar, Hungary/Lanczos Kornel Secondari Grammar School) to claim the 400 medley relay title. They won with a time of 3:38.37, more than three seconds ahead of second-place UNC Asheville.

Junior Julia Rodriguez (Gainesville, Fla./Buccholz HS) collected the fourth medal of the night for the Eagles as she joined Czarnecka on the 100 fly podium with a time of 55.11 en route to the bronze medal.

Other events on night two included the 400 IM where sophomore Rebecca Winn (Warwick, United Kingdom/The Kingsley School) and junior Sara Niepelova (Piestany, Slovakia/Gymnazium Pierra de Coubertina/ECU) swam in the 'A' final, finishing seventh and ninth, respectively.

In the 200 free, junior Anna Hogan (Louisville, Ky./Dupont Manual HS) finished sixth with a time of 1:51.16 while Reinhardt was just behind her in seventh with a time 1:52.01.
