Swim and Dive Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Accolades

RICHMOND, Va. – For the 22nd-consecutive semester, the FGCU swimming & diving team has received Scholar All-America Team status from the CSCAA after posting a 3.40 GPA from the Fall 2021 semester. That effort was boosted by eight Eagles earning perfect, 4.00 marks. Additionally, 17 student-athletes found themselves on the Dean's List (3.50 minimum GPA).

"Incredibly proud of these young women and their continued commitment to their education," said head coach Dave Rollins. "It hasn't been an easy past 20+ months adjusting to different learning methods and class delivery. However, these young women continue to excel in the classroom, on the boards and in the pool. Congratulations ladies!"

The recognition comes on the heels of the 2020-21 season that saw Wiktoria Czarnecka (Lublin, Poland/Liceum NR 10 W Lublinie) earning Scholar All-America Second-Team honors. In 2019-20, the Eagles had four CSCAA Scholar All-Americans as Petra Halmai (Dombovar, Hungary/Lanczos Kornel Secondari Grammar School) landed a spot on the First Team while Reese Wakefield (Guelph, Ontario/Bishop Macdonelle CHS) and Delaney Nelson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) joined Czarnecka with honorable mention distinctions.

Over 450 institutions were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team for their grades during the Fall 2021 semester, despite adjustments that still had to be made as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Eagle fans will have their next shot at catching the team in action next weekend, as FGCU is set to host UNF for a two-day meet beginning on Friday, February 4. The meet is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start with Senior Day ceremonies prior to the start of the meet.
