FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU Swimming & Diving team has placed 18 student-athletes, including current member
Petra Halmai (Dombovar, Hungary/Lanczos Kornel Secondari Grammar School), on the CCSA's All-Decade Team, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. That number stands out as the most selections by any other program in the conference. Liberty (12) was the only other team to receive more than two spots on the esteemed squad.
In addition to being highlighted by a pair of Olympians in Danielle Beabrun (Saint Lucia – 2008, 2012) and Lani Cabrerra (Barbados – 2016), members of the group have been a part of each of the team's nine CCSA Championships, from the first one in 2009 to its most recent crown in 2018. The All-Decade squad also features each individual member of 2015's historic 200 Medley Relay Team, which placed eighth overall at the NCAA Championship.
"This is a really exciting achievement for our program," head coach
Dave Rollins said. "To see our rich history on display is quite impressive. These student-athletes (both current and former) should be deeply proud of their accomplishments, as well as the large number of their teammates that were named to this exclusive list. Congratulations to all of our Eagles that received All-Decade Team honors."
In order to earn a selection to the All-Decade Team, individuals must have competed for at least two years within the decade as a CCSA student-athlete, with exceptions made for All-Americans. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team: three first team all-conference selections in a single event, five total first team all-conference selections (including relays), multiple superlative awards, or an NCAA Championship individual participant.

ABOUT FGCU
FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 82 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 13 seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just nine seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 38 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. Seven FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport – including women's basketball (No. 24, 2019-20) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as three of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green and Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors' Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. In 2018-19, the Eagles had an ASUN and state of Florida best seven teams earn the NCAA's Public Recognition Award for their Academic Progress Rate (APR) in their sport and have had the highest percentage of teams so honored from these two groups over each of the past three years. FGCU also collectively earned a record 3.46 GPA in the classroom in the spring 2020 semester and has outperformed the general University undergraduate population for 22 consecutive semesters. The 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring semesters each saw another milestone reached as all 15 programs achieved a 3.0-or-higher team GPA. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 – being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
