KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The duo of Melissa Novak and Megan Wakefield turned in top-35 finishes in a very competitive field in the 1m diving portion of day one of the NCAA Zones Championships Monday morning at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

Novak (Frederick, Md./Oakdale HS) placed 28th on the 1m with a score of 225.40, just 17.15 points shy of her personal best, in the process tying the highest an Eagle has ever finished. Meanwhile, Wakefield (Guelph, Ontario, Canada/Centennial CVI) turned in a score of 186.65, making her the second-highest CCSA diver on the finish list.

HEAD COACH DAVE ROLLINS
Second-year head coach Dave Rollins became the program's second head coach in program history on Sept. 1, 2016. In his second season, Rollins has guided FGCU to back-to-back CCSA titles, as well as the program's fourth-straight championship and ninth in 10 seasons. In addition, he has been awarded CCSA Coach of the Year in each of his two seasons at the helm. Most recently the associate head men's swimming coach at The Ohio State University, Rollins brings 10 years of coaching experience at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. A standout collegiate athlete in his own right, Rollins was a nine-time NCAA All-American and national champion as a member of the University of Arizona swimming & diving team from 2002-06.
