DEFENDING THE NEST
FGCU's success at home has been a vital aspect of the program's success under head coach
CJ Weber. Since the 2012-13 season, Weber's second in Southwest Florida, the Eagles are 40-18 at the FGCU Tennis Complex. During that stretch, the Green and Blue have posted winning records in all but one of those seasons, including a 7-1 record in 2014-15 and a 9-0 mark in 2015-16.
Â
This season, the Eagles are 4-0 at home. FGCU finishes with seven of the final nine matches at home.

SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
UAB enters the week 7-6 following a 4-2 loss to FAU Sunday. The Blazers have been very strong at the top thanks to a 9-2 record from Tim Dollman. From there, however, the Blazers have not posted a winning record any position other than No. 5 where Giovani Pasini is 4-1. In addition, Tom El Safadi is 2-0 at No. 5.
Meanwhile, UAB has been very successful in doubles with its top pairing producing an 8-4 record while the Blazers are 10-2 at No. 3. Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez have had the most success at No. 1, going 7-3 while Anru Fourie and Kenton Parton are 7-2 at No. 2.
FGCU lost the only prior meeting between the two sides. In 2014 UAB, defeated FGCU 4-3.

LAST TIME OUT
FGCU improved to 4-6 overall this season with all four of its wins coming at home. The Eagles used a fast start to beat William & Mary 4-3 Thursday evening. All three of FGCU's doubles pairings were in a position to win with No. 1 and No. 3 coming away victorious.
Felipe Ramirez (Armenia, Colombia/Florida Virtual School) and
Oliver Landert (Naples, Fla./Florida Virtual School/Florida) continued to perform well from the top-spot while
Austin Bates (Marietta, Ga./Pope HS) and
Felipe Escobar (Pereira, Colombia/Liceo Frances de Pereira/TCU) claimed the doubles point at No. 3.
Landert and Escobar continued their success in singles, both claiming their match to extend the lead to 3-0.

In his sixth year, Weber has compiled a 77-62 (.552) overall record and a 29-15 (.694) record in ASUN play. In 2014-15, Weber guided the Eagles to their first-ever ASUN Championship and first-ever ASUN Regular Season title after a program-best 17 wins. In his third season, Weber led Jordi Vives to a No. 35 national ranking, a nation-leading 14-match unbeaten streak and the round of 32 in the 2014 NCAA Tournament - the program's first appearance.
