COLUMBUS, Ohio - With Day 1 of the Ohio State Invitational completed, the FGCU swimming and diving team sits in 10th place with a team tally of 41 points on Friday at McCorkle Aquatic Center. The Eagles finish ahead of Big 12 competitor West Virginia (15) and local school Kenyon College (8).

Gracie Redding in the 50 freestyle.
Redding (Orlando, Fla./The First Academy) qualified herself for the NCAA B Cut with a finals time of 22.85.
Moynihan (Palmerston North, New Zealand/Waiopehu College) finished shortly after with a time of 23.37, giving her the 10th fastest 50 time in FGCU program history.
Hannah Burdge (Stuart, Fla./Martin County HS) raced in the C finals and finished with a time of 23.29. The trio also swam along side
Kylie Eble (Cleveland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) in the 200 yard freestyle relay finishing in seventh with a time of 1:31.62.
"This meet is a great challenge for us," FGCU head coach
Dave Rollins said. "We did a great job supporting each other and getting excited for every race. There were some huge surprise swims as well. It's great to have new people stepping up and competing at a high level. We are set up for a great day tomorrow and the rest of the weekend."
In the 200 yard individual medley,
Christina Kaas Elmgreen (Charlottenlund, Denmark/Ordrup Gymnasium) swam her way to 28th place in the C final with a time of 2:02.94.
Petra Halmai (Dombovar, Hungary/Lanczos Kornel Secondary Grammar School) and
Yee Ching Wong (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Girls' School) competed in the D final, respectively, and finished just .43 seconds apart from each other. Halmai clocked in at 2:03.00 and Wong a time of 2:03.43.
Moynihan and Redding swam in the anchor spots for the 400 yard medley relay, which was the ninth event of the day. The Eagles finished in 18th with a time of 3:43.90 and 22nd with a time of 3:45.43.
FGCU is back in action today starting at 10 a.m. and will conclude the Invitational tomorrow with a start time of 10 a.m. as well.

IRMA RELIEF DONATIONS
In the wake of Hurricane Irma, many individuals and families throughout Southwest Florida are still in desperate need of assistance. To aid in those relief efforts, FGCU Athletics will be collecting donations at all Eagle home games for the immediate future. Donation items most needed include: non-perishable food, clothing, household items and first-aid supplies. Additionally, those unable to attend upcoming home games can drop off donations in canisters located in the Alico Arena lobby. All donations will be given to those hardest hit in Lee and Collier counties.

HEAD COACH DAVE ROLLINS
In his first year with the program in 2016-17, head coach Dave Rollins led FGCU to its eighth CCSA Championship in a span of nine years and guided the Eagles 200 free relay team to All-American honors. FGCU registered points at the NCAA Championships for the fourth-straight season and ultimately turned in its third-best finish all-time (T-41st). Prior to FGCU, Rollins was the associate head men's swimming coach at Ohio State University and brought 10 years of coaching experience at the club, high school and collegiate levels. A standout collegiate athlete in his own right, Rollins was a nine-time NCAA All-American and national champion as a member of the University of Arizona swimming & diving team from 2002-06.
