CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A day away from looking to claim its seventh CCSA Championship in a span of eight years, the FGCU swimming and diving team had 26 student-athletes represented among the conference's all-academic honorees, it was announced Tuesday morning.
Â
The list includes all student-athletes who maintained a 3.0 GPA throughout the 2015-16 academic calendar. FGCU's 26 representatives was the third-most among CCSA members and trailed only Incarnate Word (43) and Gardner-Webb (39), who sport both men's and women's programs.
Â
"I'm very proud of the girls as they continue to excel both in the pool and in the classroom," said FGCU head coach
Neal Studd. "The girls take pride in their work ethic in both aspects of their lives and it continues to show year in and year out."
Â
In January, the Eagles were named a Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 10th-straight semester after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.34 during the fall.
