BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 29 FGCU swimming and diving team improved its dual-meet record to 11-1 with a pair of wins against in-state rivals Miami (166-111) and FAU (219-60) at the FAU Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon. With the wins, FGCU improved to 6-1 all-time against the Hurricanes and 9-0 all-time versus the Owls.

"We were able to get a couple of good wins on the road today," said FGCU head coach
Neal Studd. "We had some girls really step up in some areas I was very excited about, and we're looking forward to ramping up for senior day next week and championship season."

The Eagles, who won 10 of 15 events during the meet, were led by
Elise Haan (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) and
Katie Armitage (Bushey, United Kingdom/Queens School Bushey), who each turned in a pair of first-place finishes. Haan won both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes in times of 55.10 seconds and 2:00.67, respectively, while Armitage finished first in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes after touching the pads in 1:02.77 and 2:19.19, respectively. The individual wins marked the 11th and 12th of the season for Haan, who is now 7-0 in the 100-yard backstroke, and the 13th and 14th of the season for Armitage.

Teammate
Barbara Caraballo (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Indian River) joined Haan on the podium with a third-place finish in the 200-yard event in 2:04.27, while
Evita Leter (Paramaribo, Suriname/Doral Academy) joined Armitage with a runner-up finish in the 100-yard stroke in 1:03.90, and
Hannah Soutar (Edinburgh, Scotland/Broughton HS) joined the sophomore standout with a third-place finish in the 200-yard stroke in 2:23.01.

Christina Kaas Elmgreen (Charlottenlund, Denmark/Ordrup Gymnasium) earned her second individual win of the season in the 200-yard butterfly as she clocked a time of 2:01.98, while teammate
Yee Ching Wong (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Girls' School) placed third in a time of 2:04.83. Â

In the 50-yard freestyle, teammates
Katie Latham (Deal, Kent, United Kingdom/Sir Roger Manwood's School) and
Sara Hamilton (Stonehaven, Scotland/Mackie Academy) finished first and second in times of 23.77 seconds and 23.96 seconds, respectively. The duo then turned around only two events later to finish second and third in the 100-yard freestyle in times of 51.58 seconds and 51.78 seconds, respectively.

Lani Cabrera (Bridgetown, Barbados/St. Ursala's Secondary School) ran away with the 500-yard freestyle as she clocked a time of 4:56.74 and defeated the field by nearly four seconds. Earlier in the day, the Barbados native placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.42, while Caraballo finished just behind her in third place in a time of 1:52.22.
FGCU capped off the individual events as they swept the podium in the 200-yard IM. Caraballo won the race in 2:04.76 and was followed by
Fanny Teijonsalo (Espoo, Finland/Makelanrinteen Lukio) and Wong, who finished second and third as they touched the pads in 2:05.74 and 2:07.45, respectively.

The Green and Blue swam strong in both relay events as they finished first and second in the 200-yard medley relay and first and third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Haan, Armitage, Wong and Hamilton touched the pads in 1:44.01 and edged the team of Teijonsalo, Leter, Kaas Elmgreen and Latham by less than a second in the medley relay. Then, to cap off the meet, the foursome of Latham, Armitage, Hamilton and Haan won the freestyle relay in a time of 1:34.95, while teammates
Hannah Burdge (Stuart, Fla./Martin County HS),
Kristin Julien (San Fernand, Trinidad & Tobago/St, Stephen's College),
Rebecca DeRogatis (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Indian River) and
Kristen Jamison (Tucson, Ariz/Arizona) placed third in 1:37.44.

In the diving portion of today's meet,
Ashley Wright (Port Saint Lucie, Fla./Indian River) placed third in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 273.15 and 284.55, respectively. The five-time CCSA Diver of the Week's mark in the high dive was not only a season-best by nearly eight points, but also ranks as the fourth-best score in program history.
