Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener to No. 68 Radford

FORT MYERS, Fla. – In the first match of the season, the FGCU men's tennis team was overmatched by nationally-ranked Radford, 6-1.  Thibaud Aime, playing at the number two singles spot, was the lone winner for FGCU, defeating Ivan Selac in a 10-point third set tiebreaker, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 10-7.

 

The Highlanders picked up the doubles point with wins in all three doubles matches, all by scores of 8-4.  In the singles competition, playing in the number three spot, Danny Lee pushed Stefan Bojic to a 10-point third set tiebreaker, falling in a narrow defeat, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.   Brad Henderson, playing at the number six spot for the Eagles, lost a tight first set to Zack Watson, 7-5, before dropping the second set 6-1.

 

The Eagles will be off for a week before returning to the courts in Orlando at UCF on January 24th at 11:00AM.  The Eagles won't have another home match until February 20th when they will host Florida Atlantic at 2:00PM.
