Jenna Cobb

Jenna Cobb is in her fourth season as a member of the FGCU women’s basketball coaching staff in 2018-19, including her third as an assistant coach.

After spending the 2015-16 season as the program’s director of basketball operations, the New Holland, Ohio native was elevated to an assistant coach position the following season. In her role, Cobb’s duties include scouting of opponents, game preparation, player development and recruiting.

In her three seasons in a coaching role, Cobb has helped lead the Green and Blue to a 90-20 (.818) record, including a pair of 30-plus win seasons.

This past season, Cobb helped guide the Eagles to one of the best campaigns in program history as the team finished 31-5 overall, won the ASUN regular season and tournament championships and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the past three appearances. Along the way, the team knocked off No. 21 DePaul, No. 20/23 Kentucky and No. 17/15 Missouri to produce the program’s first-ever wins over ranked opponents in the Division-I era. And if that isn’t enough, the team made an NCAA record 431 3-pointers and finished the season at No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll for the second time in program history.

Cobb and the 2016-17 squad rallied from a 2-5 start to capture its seventh-straight 25-win campaign, which culminated in the team’s fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in six seasons. The team finished 26-9 overall and made 338 3-point field goals, which was third-most in the nation. The 2015-16 season witnessed a Division-I era program record 33 wins and resulted in a WNIT runner-up finish. In the semifinal, FGCU knocked off B1G power Michigan in front of the first sell out in Alico Arena history for women’s basketball.

PLAYING CAREER
Prior to getting into coaching, Cobb spent two seasons in the Green and Blue from 2013-15. During her time, she produced 571 points and led her teams to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, which included the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win as a senior captain in 2015 against Oklahoma State. As a junior, she was named the ASUN tournament MVP after scoring 41 points total in the semifinal and final.

As a senior, Cobb was selected as a member of the 2015 class of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s  (WBCA) ‘So You Want to Be a Coach’ program.

Prior to her time at FGCU, Cobb spent her first two seasons with Butler University from 2010-12. While there, she was a 2012 Horizon League All-Defensive Team selection and In total, she scored 843 points while accumulating 429 rebounds, 276 assists and 214 steals in 131 career Division-I contests.
 
PERSONAL
Cobb, who received a bachelor's degree in communications with a double minor in marketing and advertising from FGCU in 2015, is also a 2010 graduate of Miami Trace High School where she was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and a two-time All-Ohio selection after producing 1,500 points in her high school career. Her father, Glen, played linebacker at Ohio State, serving as team captain in 1981.
