Parents of both prospective student-athletes and student-athletes already enrolled at FGCU are encouraged to become educated on the NCAA rules and regulations that affect their child’s athletic eligibility and well-being. The information in this section is intended to assist parents and/or legal guardians and you are encouraged to contact the Compliance Office with any questions that may arise.

Parents Of Prospective Student-Athletes
For recruiting purposes, parents and legal guardians are held to the same recruiting rules as their son or daughter including contacts and telephone calls. It is impermissible for a friend, family member, or legal guardian to accept any type of extra benefit. Extra benefits can include but are not limited to, transportation, hotel, meals, a loan of money, etc.  Your son or daughter is required to register with The NCAA Eligibility Center. They need to submit their final high school transcript, test scores, and request their final amateurism before they can be named a final qualifier.  If you have any questions regarding these restrictions please contact the Compliance Office.

Parents Of Current Student-Athletes
Parents or legal guardians of a current student-athlete may provide occasional meals to his/her team at any location. You may not provide off-campus housing to any other student-athlete free of charge. You also cannot sell any items received incidental to participation in intercollegiate athletics at FGCU or any homemade personalized item with your son or daughters name on it.  It is impermissible for a friend, family member, or legal guardian to accept any type of extra benefit. Extra benefits can include but are not limited to, transportation, hotel, meals, a loan of money, etc.

Student-athletes are given 4 complimentary admissions to every home and away contests in the sport in which they compete. Parents/ legal guardians and friends must be added onto the pass list by your son or daughter in order to receive the complimentary admission to the sporting event. You are NOT permitted to sell these tickets at any time and are required to produce a valid identification before receiving the ticket.
