FORT MYERS, Fla. –  Javier Brown was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following a strong week of play on the pitch.

Brown helped the Eagles go 2-0 in Texas, with wins over Houston Christian and Incarnate Word. The freshman defender scored his first career goal in FGCU's 3-0 win over the Cardinals on a header off a pass into the box from Lucas Sperner. He played all 90 minutes in both wins, and aided the Eagles' first clean sheet of the season against UIW.

The Defensive Player of the Week nod is the first career weekly superlative award for Brown and is the Eagles' first ASUN award of the 2026 season.

Next, FGCU concludes its second road trip of the campaign when it resumes conference action at Queens at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.
